Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the electronic International Molecular Biology Laboratory (eIMBL)

Geared to take advantage of the knowledge and expertise base of biotechnology across the Asia-Pacific region,
this state-of-the-art web-based molecular biological laboratory network is established and will link leading scientists, institutions, entrepreneurs and investors.
The foundation of eIMBL was unanimously agreed at the A-IMBN Governing Council Meeting (Tokyo, December 2003) and proposed by the Korean government at the APEC S&T Ministers' Meeting (Christchurch, NZ, March 2004) with its financial commitment of US$500,000 for three years starting from the year of 2005.

Adopted as priority APEC initiative at the ISTWG meeting in 1997, followed by its endorsement in 2005, the eIMBL will operate as a non-profit organization under the aegis of the Asia-Pacific International Molecular Biology Network (A-IMBN). The establishment of eIMBL is also supported by international institutions such as A-IMBN, EMBO, ICGEB, AMBO and others

The eIMBL will make remarkable contributions to enhancing the biotechnology capability of APEC countries, facilitating the international flow of information and scientists and increasing the cooperative activities among APEC countries

I would appreciate your relentless interest and invaluable advice and join us in our endeavor toward successful virtual laboratory system in the Asia Pacific region.

Professor Jeongbin Yim
Director, eIMBL
